SONOMA, CALIFORNIA RESIDENCE

This one-of-a-kind property in the Sonoma Hills sits perched on a high hill above town. The presence of a dense grove of mature Oak trees required careful and sensitive placement to preserve the site’s character. We carefully stepped the house down a slight ridge and maintained its alignment, assuring a wonderful view of San Francisco. A simple shed roof matches the sloping site. The Great Room is situated on the south side, creating maximum views and allowing access to the pool. The room is fabricated in steel beams and wood rafters and serves as a viewing pavilion for the vanishing-edge pool and surrounding hills. Dark stained wood siding and exposed steel elements recall the history of the barn and agricultural buildings of the area.
